PSD Thumbnail Preview

One great feature of Adobe Photoshop Version 7 was the fact that thumbnails of the PSD files were displayed when browsing Windows folders. This feature is essential is you have hundreds of PSD files in a single folder, as I often do.

Unfortunately, Adobe removed this ability due to issues with the DLL file conflicting with Windows. So what are our options?

Well, we can either use the Adobe Browser that’s included with Photoshop, additionally you could use a third party tool like Irfan View to browse the thumbnails. Personally, I just want to continue utilizing Windows and Photoshop the way that have for the last few years. If that sounds like you, then read on.

Method One

The solution is very simple and takes less than a minute to implement. You don’t need to even reboot Windows. The change is immediate.

1. Download the file, photoshop_thumbnails.zip<=(recommended) (62kb) mirror
2. Copy psicon.dll to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell – if this folder doesn’t exist create it Run Adobe.reg
3. Than click on the Views and Click Thumbnails
4. You now can view PSD files in Thumbnails view within Windows Explorer.

Method Two

This method supports the following image formats: cut, dcx, dds, mdl, mng, pcd, pcx, pic, pix, png, pnm/pbm/pgm/ppm, psd/pdd, psp, pxr, sgi/rgb, tif/tiff, tga/vda/icb/vst, wal and xpm.

This includes PSD files and as you can see, many other file formats, so this is much more practical and maybe preferred method. You can view all of these file formats in Windows Explorer.

All of this can be made possible by using a tiny software called ThumbView Lite (Download here) which does this job easily. This software is less than 0.5 mb. It supports amazing 19 image types. All you need to do is install it, (it’s pretty fast) and enjoy the benefits!

ZoNG Free GPRS Hack : No More

It has been reported that the Zong Free GPRS hack has been completely blocked now. This hack was very famous among Pakistani youth; many well-known forums have made image guided and video lessons to teach you how to activate this hack. The duration of the hack was more than 1 year.

What was the hack?

The hack was very simple. You just had to do some changes in Access Point (APN Settings) to make them use zong mms settings. This way you were not charged and you could use Zong’s Edge/Gprs free of cost, even when you had credit in your account. Because the system does not recognize your status.

• The first hack was that you change the apn from zongwap to zongmms. This hack was blocked shortly after it came to public forums.
• The second hack was to change the apn to zongmms but also giving two blank lines above.

What you got? What you lost?

The people using this hack were 99.9% prepaid users, so no matter for what duration and what volumes they have used they are not going to pay for it.

The hack was blocked about 2 days ago, so those people who did not noticed it lost their balance in their accounts. As Zong started charging them as per regular tariff.

Why these hacks do came out?

There is a common perception that evil geniuses who always try to find backdoors and flaws in systems find these hacks, on the other hand, some people think that the companies themselves spread these hacks; the next question may be why they do this. The answer can be that as you know GPRS/Edge culture is still not popular in Pakistan, because of costs and lack of knowledge. Therefore, when one finds it free, obviously, he/she is going to use it, then they tell it to their friends, creating awareness for the service.

Moreover, this also helps in testing network load, strengths, and weakness of the system when there is network congestion.

Almost daily, I get multiple emails from readers asking me to teach them on how to activate GPRS on their Mobile Phones and demands setting for their different models and cellular companies.

In response, I have decided to do a series of tutorials in which we will learn easy and simple ways to get GRPS activated on our mobile phones. To reduce the confusion I will start with Ufone, however, GPRS settings for all cellular companies, like Mobilink, Zong, Warid and Tenor will also be posted in coming days.

Step 1: Activating GPRS on your Ufone

You must activate GPRS for your Ufone number. In case you do all settings, and GPRS for your Ufone number is not activated then you may not use GPRS on your Ufone. In order to activate your GPRS services on Ufone number you can follow two ways

By Calling Help Line: Call help line and ask them to activate your GPRS and MMS…As simple, along with also tell them your Mobile Phone brand and model (for example, tell them that you have Nokia 6300 phone) and that’s it. They will activate your GPRS setting and also send you an SMS that will contain GPRS/MMS setting. Simply save this message. (When you will open this message, there will appear an option to save it) – So you are done. Now you can use GPRS and MMS on your Ufone number.

Note: After you call help line, and activate your GPRS, it may take couple of hours to get it activated on your number. So don’t expect GPRS working straight away.

Activating Via SMS: You can also activate GPRS on Ufone by sending an SMS in this format => [manufacturermodel] and send it to 222

Example: Write: Nokia 6300 and send it to 222

After sending this SMS, you will have to wait for sometime (even 24 hours in some cases) and you will receive a SMS that will GPRS and MMS setting for your Ufone number. Simply save it and start using GPRS on you Ufone.

Note: It is better to subscribe by calling help line, as they will send you MMS and GPRS setting immediately. Subscribing GPRS via SMS may take as long as 24 hours.

So now you are done with GPRS and MMS setting, and can start surging internet on your Ufone number. Also check following tips for using internet on ufone.

Remember that GPRS is relatively an expensive internet source. Ufone currently does not offer any unlimited data plan (package that allows unlimited usage). Hence, you will be charged on per MB download/upload basis.

MMS Usage Charges: The cost of sending an MMS is Rs. 5.00 (excluding taxes)
The cost of receiving an MMS is Rs. 5.00 (excluding taxes)

You are supposed to be done with GPRS and MMS setting with above given method. But if you an advanced user and you want to manually configure your GPRS setting then check following configuration

How To Extract SWF Flash From Excel or Word

A simple VBA program can extract the embedded SWF Flash animation file as there is no direct way of extracting it

1. Open a new Microsoft Excel document,
2. Click the Tools menu, Marco, Visual Basic Editor. You can also press the ALT+ F11 hotkey to bring up the VBA editor,
3. While in MS Visual Basic editor, click the View Code icon on the upper-left panel,
4. 
5. Copy the VBA program source code at below here and paste it onto the VBA source code editor,
6. Press F5 to execute the VBA source code,
7. An Open File dialog box prompts you to select the Office Excel document that embed the SWF Flash animation file,
8. A message box appears shortly after the Excel file is selected, with a message that says where the extracted SWF Flash animation file is saved in local hard disk!

Go to your Gmail Labs settings and enable the "Text Messaging (SMS) in Chat" feature. The facility is currently available only for US phone numbers.

Create A New Text Document, type CMD in it & then save it as a batch file (some-name.bat).

When you run this file, the command prompt window will open on the computer.

Step 2

Next type cd\windows in the command prompt window to change the directory to Windows.

Now type in regedit to get to the registry editor gui.

Step 3

Once in regedit, get to the following area:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Appevents>software>classes> microsoft>windows>current version>internet settings>policies>system

once there, on the right side pane where it says Disable Taskmanager,

right click on it, and select Modify. Change the value to “0″

Step 4

Now open Windows Task Manager By Holding Down: “CTRL+ALT+DEL”. In the processes list,

look for any program names that looked like the program that controls the cafe timer.

Many cyber cafes use cyberlux as the timing device but your product may vary depending on where you are located.

Reset Windows XP Admin and User Passwords

This trick will be useful to all who have forgetten their passwords or need to change passwords in friends PC etc. There is no simple way than this and easier. [Jasim Manniyil]Hope you'll try this. In this trick, its possible to change any accounts password.

1) Restart XP to safe mode (by F8 Key on restarting)
2) Goto Start and open RUN
3) Type the code control userpasswords2
4) Select Username and press Reset password button

5) Enter new password and you are done!

Make a Bootable USB Key

A bootable USB key is a convenient way to install operating systems on netbooks without optical drives, or carrying around a Live OS with you at all times. It especially makes sense if you're installing software on a machine that otherwise has no need for an optical drive, such as a Windows Home Server. Here’s a definitive guide to making a bootable USB key with either Vista or Windows 7 in just 9 steps.

1. Find and right-click the Windows Command Prompt in your Start Menu and choose to run it as an Administrator.
2. At the prompt, enter diskpart to launch Microsoft’s disk management utility. The command line should now read “DISKPART>”.
3. Type list disk to show a list of all disk drives. If your USB key is plugged into your PC, it should be listed here, along with other physical drives. Note the USB key’s disk number – you can pick it out by looking at the disk capacity.
4. Type select disk #, with the USB key’s disk number in place of #.
5. Type clean for the utility to clean the disk, which DiskPart will confirm.
6. Create a new bootable partition by entering create partition primary.
7. Choose this partition with select partition 1, and then mark it as active by typing active.
8. Format the key by inputting format fs=fat32. This should take a few minutes, and DiskPart will display a progress percentage.
9. Lastly, type assign to give this USB key a drive letter. Close the DiskPart program using exit.

You can now copy your OS’s installation files from the original DVD onto the key. We also recommend copying your hardware drivers onto the same key so the OS installation wizard can find them.

To use Windows Update, you have register XP. If you want support from Microsoft without having to give them you private data (name, email, phone, ...), you can use the following registry hack to fool XP into thinking that XP has been registered. This is essentially the same hack used in Win98 to block registration. Don't be confused - this is not blocking Product Activation. This will only work if you have not installed XP. If you have installed XP and there is internet connectivity, you already are registered.

* Your PC must not be connected to the network.
* During XP setup answer no when setup asks you to use Windows Dynamic Update.
Dynamic update connects to Microsoft to register XP.
* Once the installation is completed, reboot to Safe mode.
* Click Start
* Click Run
* Rename %systemroot%\System32\regwizc.dll and %systemroot%\System32\Dllcach\regwizc.dll to regwizc.dll.bka or whatever.
By renaming the regwizc DLL, it blocks other windows components from registering XP to Microsoft.
